The Bell Ampitheater

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Camp John Hay has long been associated with the city of Baguio. It has no doubt contributed much to eco-tourism in the locale.

Some love the picnic grounds, its pine trees and of course, the StarBucks that sits on a hill and not on a mall. Although I've only been there once.

For those who want a trip to memory lane, you can go to the Historical Core in Camp John Hay. The Historical Core is situated after the Liberty Park. There are three places you can visit while you are in the core. The ampitheater, the Bell House and the Cemetery of Negativism. By the way, the entrance fee is 30 pesos.

Let's all start with the ampitheater located near the entrance of the Historical Core.

Former U.S. Commanding General to the Philippines, General Franklin Bell, supervised and planned its construction.

The ampitheater is a marvellous garden with a gazebo. I believe you can rent the place for a thousand pesos per hour for special occasions like weddings. This gazebo was designed for outdoor musical performances.

I've been here a couple of times before. But when I took these pictures, I was surprised that there were not many people that day. I usually see the typical lovers, tourists and photographers. Seems like it was all for me that day.

My next entry will be about the Bell House, a living museum in Camp John Hay where former Generals assigned in Baguio lived.
